Enchanted Forest
On the day it celebrated its 130th anniversary, the Zoo presented the renewed Enchanted Forest and Picnic Park, a remodeling that stemmed from a partnership with the Green Dot Society.

The objective was clear: To raise the visitors’ awareness for the environmental concerns and the importance of recycling, as well as to show that several useful objects can be born of recycling.

The remodeling took a year, and today, in the Enchanted Woods, the first and last links in the recycling chain exist simultaneously. On the one hand, to gather the requisite raw material, recycling bins were spread throughout the Zoo for the first time. On the other, the picnic park received "urban furniture", tables and benches for meals, and "bird houses" for children to play with, their parts made exclusively from recycled material. This way, packages were “returned” to the consumer.
Throughout the forest and in the picnic area there are numerous attractive and visible panels with curious information that help to draw attention and retain the main message: to recycle and take care of the environment.

We discover that part of those 16 tons includes, for instance, 150 000 bags of chips (with the average weight of 3 male tigers), 66 000 packs of shampoo (weight of two giraffes), 90000 cups of yoghurt (weight of 4 newborn elephants), and up to 250 tires (weight of 880 macaws) for the floor of the playgrounds.

All this is before our eyes, transformed into tables, benches and "bird houses". At a bare minimum, it should awaken our imagination about the future of the next package that we put in the recycling bin.
